Animal Facts

While studying westward expansion, Oregon Trail, or some other aspect of settlement, research animal populations before and after the settlement. Look for patterns in animals that increased or decreased in population. Ask students why some animals increased in population while others decreased or even became extinct. An example for the area of the Oregon Trail is attached.
